My artwork has many influences, the most recognizable ones being children's books, existentialist philosophers and authors, and my own dreams. The children's books generally provide characters of an innocent or nostalgic sense, fitting for dreams and images. In the existentialist authors I have found a general understanding and agreement with the ideas of the worth and motives of the human. This being true, I also recognize a great amount of levity--though not to deteriorate the seriousness of the matter at hand, but to add another depth. My own dreams, remembered and recorded, are the impetus and setting for much of my work. In them I find much of the levity, relationships akin to psychedelic art and thinking, and a backdrop able to withstand the most bizarre and confusing happenings or scenario. Being influenced thusly, I try to create images that grasp the sense of subconscious, if not directly via precise images, then through an arrangement of characters or parts. I have a cat.
